The purpose of the Black Student Union is to provide a social forum for the African American Student Community as well as all students at Old Westbury. Also to spread cultural awareness and values of equality amongst the diverse student body at SUNY Old Westbury. To provide members with opportunities to gain broader insight into the culture, along with stimulating the mind and ideas of the student body.

Peer Educators

Peer Educators grants students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience working in the helping field with an emphasis on valuing and respecting diversity among individuals. Peer educators are also given training in general counseling skills and ethical issues that are used in their interactions with student groups. Their work is supervised by the student development specialist and graduate interns of the Mental Health Counseling Program. The Peer Educator club was created with the mission of educating and promoting campus awareness related to substance abused, domestic violence, conflict resolution, anger management and to help the peer educators develop their leadership and event planning skills. Volunteer students are trained to sponsor educational programs such as drug and alcohol awareness, personal safety and relationships among other events. Peer Educators aim to achieve the goal of promoting positive life changes among SUNY Old Westbury Students.

HAIRitage

Hairitage is to educate both the male and female population on hair, cosmetics and maintenance. Taking great care of oneself is universal. Hairitage is here to provide outstanding programs that are not only educational but enjoyable, we want to provide lifelong lessons that the student body will find useful outside of campus.

Muslim Student Association

Muslim Student Association is an organization for the Muslims in our community. As an MSA we join together with our fellow Muslim brothers and sister's to form unity. Not only do we educate Muslims but we also educate Non-Muslims about Islam. We seek to benefit students on campus by providing events, halal food, and a prayer area as well as increasing their faith in this college environment.

The Haitian Student Organization celebrates the Haitian culture and works to not only better Haiti but the campus community as well through volunteer work and fundraising. It is our belief that with cultural education and activism we can raise awareness of Haiti and her people on campus.

Active minds is a national organization that empowers students to speak openly about mental health is order the educate others and encourage helping-seeking. Through campus-wide events and national programs, Active Minds aims to remove the stigma that surrounds mental health issues, and create a comfortable environment for an open conversation about mental health issues on campuses nationwide.

Our mission at the PEL Club is to guide students towards an informed understanding of current events, provide a safe and judgment-free atmosphere where students can talk openly about concerns affecting their communities and works to actively change these issues. The PEL Club addresses these issues with a can-do attitude while maintaining a fun and friendly approach.

Alianza Latina

Alianza Latina is here to promote the advancement and enrichment of our culture. We aspire to strengthen our fellow Latinos through unity, wisdom and pride. Alianza Latina was established to help support our community and develop life long bonds filled with laughter, cultural awareness, and a sense of pride and leadership, which can be taken back to the real world. Not only is our mission for latinos, but everyone as a whole.

NAACP

Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization. From the ballot box to the classroom, the thousands of dedicated workers, organizers, leaders and members who make up the NAACP continue to fight for social justice for all Americans. The mission of the NAACP Youth & College Division shall be to inform youth of the problems affecting African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities; to advance the economic, education, social and political status of African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities and their harmonious cooperation with other peoples; to stimulate an appreciation of the African Diaspora and other people of color’s contribution to civilization; and to develop an intelligent, militant effective youth leadership.

Mission Statement The Caribbean Student Association at State University of New York College at Old Westbury is an organization designed to complement and expand community knowledge and appreciation of Caribbean culture. In conjunction with these efforts we promote academic achievement, community service and most importantly cultural diversity. The Caribbean Students Association at Old Westbury hereafter referred to as CSA has been founded to create a support group among Caribbean students here at the college. We also wish to aid in improving cultural awareness, academic achievement and over all of the participating students of State Old Westbury. As an organization we also wish to plan educational and social events designed to complement and expand the Old Westbury community’s knowledge and appreciation of Caribbean culture. Our Program ideas are aimed at not only reaching the Caribbean peoples in the community but all who are able to benefit from our work.All members of the community, whether of Caribbean descent or not, are welcome in our organization.
